Step 01 of 09

You talk. I take notes.

Every website I build starts with one honest conversation about your business. What you do, who hires you, which towns you work in, what customers ask before they say yes, and what a good inquiry actually looks like. No forms to fill out first. No 40-question homework packet.

What happens

One real conversation. Not an interrogation.

We sit down together, in person or on a call, for about an hour. It feels less like a meeting and more like explaining your work to someone who’s actually paying attention. You already know everything this step needs. My job is to get it out of your head and onto paper.

What you do

  • Talk about the business the way you’d explain it to a neighbor
  • Tell me which jobs you want more of, and which ones you don’t
  • Name the towns you actually work in, not the ones on a map
  • Tell me what customers ask before they hire you

What I do

  • Ask the questions and keep the conversation moving
  • Take the notes, so nothing you say gets lost
  • Listen for how you talk, because that voice ends up on your site
  • Turn the whole thing into a written summary you can check
What you walk away with

Your business, down on paper. Checked by you.

01

A written summary you approve

Everything I heard, in plain English: services, customers, towns, goals. You read it and correct anything I got wrong. Nothing else happens until it’s right.

02

Your own words, captured

The way you actually describe your work is better than anything a copywriter invents from scratch. I keep it, and it becomes the raw material for your pages.

03

A clear picture of the customer you want

Not “everyone.” The jobs worth taking, the customers worth keeping, and what has to be true for the phone call to be a good one.

04

Nothing to prepare

No brand questionnaire, no mood boards, no prep work. Bring your knowledge of the business. I’ll bring everything else.

Why this step exists

Skip it and you get a website about websites.

Every generic small-business site you’ve ever clicked away from skipped this step. The words could belong to any company in any town, because nobody ever asked the owner a real question. When a site starts from a template instead of a conversation, customers can tell in about five seconds. This hour is the reason yours won’t read like that.

The conversation costs you nothing.

Tell me about the business. Worst case, you spend an hour talking about your favorite subject.
